It can be the toughest time of the year or it can be the best time of the year. I'm talking of the player trade deadline that every team and really every player must consider in their season. As always, the trade deadline across Canada falls on January 10th and with teams just getting back to business after the Christmas break. The first order of business is for teams to identify deficiencies and potential assets in their own lineup and in other teams.
Already you can hear the phones ringing a little more often and pickup that the conversations are a little more serious. On Tuesday afternoon I sat down with the Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes to discuss the upcoming trade deadline and how he sees it shaping up for the Spruce Kings. I did have to wait through a couple of phone calls that did fit inside the category of trade talks.
