Wes McLeod Selected to All Star Starting Lineup

Prince George Spruce Kings veteran defenceman Wes McLeod was named today to the Interior Conference Starting Line for the BCHL All Star game to be held in Nanaimo January 13, 2010.

Wes McLeod has generated a lot of attention over the course of the past two seasons with the Spruce Kings and was on the Interior Division All Star team last year in Vernon. The defenceman who calls Kamloops home has also represented Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge and has played in the CJHL Prospects Game.

With a scholarship to the University of Alaska in Anchorage, Wes has proven to be a valuable member of the Spruce Kings and has compiled a record of 8 goals and 21 assists to average better than a point a game through 27 games this season. Through his three year tenure with the Spruce Kings, Wes has played in a total of 143 games with 17 goals and 56 assists.

Those numbers place Wes in the top 5 all-time Spruce Kings list for points by a defenceman, 6th among goals scored by a defenceman and 5th for assists by a defenceman.

This will be the first year that the BCHL All-Star Team will face the defending Fred Page Cup champions. The Vernon Vipers will be up against the league's best on January 13th at the Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo.

The BCHL has released the entire All Star selections and has that list available on their website at http://www.bchl.ca

The player nomination and voting process was conducted by the head coaches of the BCHL’s 17 teams.

Wes McLeod and the Spruce Kings will face the Alberni Valley Bulldogs tonight and the Cowichan Valley Capitals tomorrow night in a pair of inter-divisional games in the BCHL. Game time both nights is 7:00pm in the Prince George Coliseum.
